Hey all,

i am new here, I purchased Plak yesterday after I read great recommendations about it, for now I am extremely happy with it design and its speed.

However, I would like to invest in paid advertising and I would love to have your opinion guys about the best platform to chose. So basically, what is the best for advertisement, Google ads or Facebook ads ?

Thank you.

Jessy 🙂

Hi @jessy

Katrine here from Plak theme support.

I would like to thank you first for your trust in Plak Shopify Tjeme and wish you the best luck and much success in your online business 🙂

To answer your question, Facebook ads and Google ads can both be viable paid media options depending on your goals and the marketing budget your company has.

Basically Facebook ads would be the best choice for you if you are selling cheap items and would like to target a specific audience, because Facebook is an entertainment website and people are there to communicate with friends and family, they are not there for the main purpose of purchasing items.

Google ads would be the best choice for you if you are selling expensive items.

However, I highly recommend you to do some maths before paid advertisement, you must calculate your margin profit/item, the CPC (cost per click), the average conversion rate and your budget to not to lose your money.

For instance : your profit/item is 8$ and the conversion rate is 2%, the average CPC is 0.10$.

Then for 100 clicks on your ad, you'll get about 2 sales.

How much money will you be spending ?

  • Number of clicks x CPC = 100 x 0.10$ = 10$

The profit ?

  • Number of sales x the profit/item = 2 x 8$ = 16$

The net profit from paid ads ?

  • profit - budget spent  = 16$ - 10$ = 6$

>> If you also calculate the return rate (generally between 1-5%), you may fall into a loss <<

So i highly recommend you to understand your audience first before you jump into FB ads or Google ads in order to maximize your profit and minimize your spending.

Kind regards,

Katrine

My God, I have never thought about return rate and all the stuff you mentioned in your answer.

Before I wrote my post, I watched some Youtube video about Facebook ads and google ads, but they never mentioned those stuff (like the return rate and the margin profit/item). I thought it was easy to run ads and make profit.

Could you point me to a good Youtube video or an article to read about SEO ? I think I will start with that first untill I learn more about paid ads.

thanks Katrine

You are welcome @jessy

in business either online or offline, you must always calculate or estimate the unexpected loss fees.

If you are just starting your online business I highly recommend you to focus first on SEO, at least you'll have a good ROI (return In Investment).

The best article I can point you to, is our ARTICLE BLOG

If you didn't understand something, you can either comment directly in the blog article or here in the forum.

Good luck Jessy 🙂

Personally I never had much success on both Fb ads & Google ads, I invest my money now on SEO (off-site and on-site).

Getting better results in search takes some time but at least my money is not loss for something i can't guarantee its results.

Enjoy your day all !

You did the best choice Patricia, but once you start making some good income from organic traffic, try to scale up your business by doing some paid ads 🙂

good luck to you all 🙂
