Experiencing a really frustrating issue with my site and wanted to see if there is a solution!

I am using the Dawn theme and trying that after clicking a button the customer will be referred to a section in the home page.

I tried to enter the anchor link MANUALLY into the theme, or enter a link via the customizer, but it's not working.

How that can be solved?

Thanks

Hi @ben

In order to jump to a specific area of the page upon click, you need to add an ID on the section containing the button and add the same ID to the desired section.

I invite you to follow this tutorial that may help you achieve what you desire.

Kind regards,
Katrine

Hi Ben,

The Dev Team thinks the user interface may be confusing you us here. Please follow the steps below:

Steps:
  1. Go to Dawn theme
  2. Click on Customize button
  3. Select any section where the button is
  4. Under "Button link" enter "#JumpTo"
  5. Now place the Name anchor inside the theme code where you want to move the cursor on click e.g
  6. Save

We tested it on our store and it worked fine. We found the experience confusing as well though. When we save ID e.g. #JumpTo and come back to edit page after refresh, the ID is no longer visible (possible Shopify bug). Whereas, on storefront the change actually took place and the link works. Hope this info is helpful to you. Let us know how you go.

@plakadmin

I tried and it's still not working.

Is it possible to receive an example by using it on Shopify?

Thanks

Hi @Ben, Sorry to hear that it did not work well for you. All solutions we provide, we try first then we share. It should have worked. Can you please share video of your experience end to end? You can use this free tool to do that: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/.

Hi @plakadmin,

I attached the example:

I tried to make it jump to this section:

it's in the homepage, therefore in the video you see the screen of the index.js code file

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben, Thanks for sharing the video. Please add the following piece of code just above the div you shared as a new line.

<a href="#JumpTo">Jump To</a>

I didn't share a div, it's a JSON file, (index.json which is the file that displays my homepage)

It's not working as you can see here:

Best,

Ben
